Highland Park, Highwood and Fort Sheridan, IL – On Tuesday, January 29th, the North Shore School District 112 (NSSD112) Board of Education approved Innovation Learning to be the sole provider of before school, after school and vacation day programs at all seven K-5 schools. The approval comes after the administration conducted a Request for Proposal (RFP) process that started in October and submitted an official recommendation at the January 15th Board meeting. A one year agreement with Innovation Learning will begin on July 1, 2019.

“With this approval we have solidified our commitment to offering engaging, safe, and affordable after and before school care at all seven of our elementary schools,” said Mike Lubelfeld Ed.D., NSSD112 Superintendent of Schools. “We can not wait until Innovation Learning hits the ground running and works with our parents and staff to build programs that are tailored to each school.”

Innovation Learning is known as a leader in next-generation before and after school programs, combining some of the features of traditional before and after school programs such as a focus on child safety, program licensing, snack and the inclusion of a play-based curriculum with academic support. Innovation Learning also offers a wide array of enrichment offerings and their use of licensed educators to operate their programs. Licensed teachers also offer homework support so that homework is completed and checked before students are picked up by their parents each evening.

“We are very excited to work with North Shore School District 112,” said Brett Prilik, Ed.D., Executive Director of Innovation Learning. “We look forward to making a meaningful contribution to the North Shore School District 112 community while supporting families, children and the healthy learning environment that Dr. Lubelfeld and the school board have worked so hard to create.”

NSSD112 solicited a Request for Proposal (RFP) for a Before School and After School Childcare Program in the Highland Park Pioneer Press Newspaper on October 25, 2018. The purpose and program objectives are to operate an on-site before and after school program at all seven District 112 elementary schools.

Innovation Learning will begin offering programs in North Shore School District 112 at the start of the 2019-20 school year. Programming will be offered on school grounds at all seven elementary schools within the district property.

About  Innovation LearningFounded in 2015 by former teachers, principals and school district administrators who also happen to be parents, Innovation Learning is known for developing programs that are individualized and tailored to each of the communities they work with. While most schools opt for their popular Innovation Stations as part of their program, Innovation Learning also offers a menu of enrichment activities, academic support, physical fitness and play-based opportunities that communities can select from when designing their schedules. The company’s mission is to, “create tomorrow’s innovators today.” All of their programs are based upon the premise that Innovation as a “set of skills” can be nurtured, taught and practiced. Skills which include curiosity, collaboration, associative and integrative thinking and a bias toward action and experimentation are deliberately woven into all programs for the purpose of fostering an “innovative mindset” for the children they work with. Innovation Learning currently serves close to 50 schools in the Chicago, Denver, Kansas City and Phoenix metropolitan areas.
